I read somewhere: 'Whether a plant is a weed or not, is a matter of opinion.' I found a tiny weed and decided to draw its delicate beauty. J'ai lu quelque part: 'Qu'une plante soit une mauvaise herbe ou pas, est une question d'opinion.' J'ai trouvé une toute petite mauvaise herbe et décidais de dessiner sa beauté délicate. Rekha Sameer I want to quote from Calvino's Invisible Cities: 'A description of Zaira as it is today should contain all Zaira's past. The city, however, does not tell its past, but contains it like the lines of a hand, written in the corners of the streets, the gratings of the windows, the banisters of the steps, the antennae of the lightning rods, the poles of the flags, every segment marked in turn with scratches, indentations, scrolls.' This quote was the trigger for a study of the lines in my palm to the lines in nature. It has made realise how mesmeric it is to transfer what the eye sees onto paper.
