For the past 5 weeks I've had a studio in Milan next to the Cimitero Monumentale, the main cemetery here. The range of sculpture in the cemetery is amazing and I chose to do my drawings here. I used a biro and each drawing is one continuous line. It's really a record of me looking at the sculpture. The sculptures are all representations of women. By its size alone this cemetery can be an overwhelming place and this process provided a way of managing the experience. The first drawing had to be done outside the cemetery from far below the sculpture as I'd forgotten it closed on Mondays.
