1st of November I am going to move house. Preparations have begun. So this week I have drawn on pieces of cardboard cut from one moving box. Drawing with the marker with which I write the contents on.

Le premier novembre je vais déménager. Les préparations ont démarré. Cette semaine j'ai dessiné sur des morceaux de carton coupé d'un carton de déménagement. Dessiné avec le marquer avec lequel j'écris le contenu en dessus.

Drawings of 7/10/13, 10/10/13 and 12/10/13

Codd bottles were designed in 1872 to hold fizzy drinks. The neck of the bottle was squeezed in a mould to a special design, and contained a marble. The marble sealed the bottle when the pressure of the fizzy drink pushed it to the top of the neck. The shape allowed the marble to be held out of the way when the drink was poured. This Codd bottle was used by Wheelers Brewery of High Wycombe (the town where I live).

The drawings are explorations of arthropod bodies or cast-off exoskeletons, and not photorealist scale representations. These dried up husks of flies, wasps, beetles and spiders appear on our windowsills, and to most people they seem like detritus to be swept up. But under the microscope they are marvels of natural form. Contemplating and admiring their details was meditative and enjoyable.

Drawings of 8/10/13, 11/10/13 and 13/10/13
Indian ink, pencil and watercolour on smooth cartridge paper
